Alan Thurbon Shield
Allan Thurbon was a journalist and a regular commentator on ABC country radio in NSW and was one of those responsible for forming NFA (national) in 1981, being the inaugural National President.
Whilst President, he had a shield made up and called it the President'sShield which he presented annually to the Branch which had achieved the most toward NFA's objectives.
Unfortunately, he passed away after a battle with cancer at 63 yrs andfollowing his death, the shield was renamed in his honour. Since then each year the Allan Thurbon shield is awarded by the current National President.
